The Four seasons of Priory Park

This was the painting that got me accepted on to the Landscape artist of the Year competition shown in Feb 2021. I had been thinking about it for ten years, trying to represent the way we live and changes of time. The painting represents many events in the park, which has been central to mine and my families lives, so in the painting is Graham and debbie's wedding, my children looking for conkers, Rayleigh brass playing, a football match and a protest against road widening which would have taken one side of the park. I have also tried to capture how the seasons change. I like to play with scale and perspective so the painting can be viewed from any way up, depending on which season the viewer favours.
